Random Clippings and Other Stuff from Magazines, Newspapers and Other Places
Here is a new series of blog posts I'd like to call Random Clippings and Other Stuff from Magazines, Newspapers and Other Places (Or RCAOSFMNAOP). These will feature some random clippings (including magazine snippets and ads) and other stuff that I found from some websites and other places and some of my commentary on them.
Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol in theaters? Love that special but I do wonder how poorly it would have looked on the big screen.
"Two Full Length Features"? I think they were both just one hour, hardly feature length.
This was back when Cool Cat was actually considered a major part of the Looney Tunes gang (love how the ad put "as if you didn't know" after his name, oh the irony now).
Wonder how many kids were disappointed when they found out that those Nutty Squirrells were only in the wraparounds and not the actual cartoons themselves (WSBK actually disregarded those wraparounds completely, so some kids had no idea why the show was even called that!).
Here's something interesting...this actually comes from a lost Paramount cartoon directed by Shamus Culhane. Apparently, it was something like Rocket Robin Hood. Really hope it gets found one day.
It may seem a bit absurd, but yes: Total Television cartoons and Hanna Barbera toons did in fact air as part of the same half hour (Space Kidettes incidentally, was always an 11 minute cartoon with the Total Television cartoons airing in the middle (meaning that there was a recap once the Space Kidettes episode came back) and didn't originally take up the full half hour like Wikipedia tells you). The Jetsons episode being advertised here is "A Visit From Grandpa". Not sure about the Cool McCool episode though (granted, I haven't seen much from that show
Love how this local ad doesn't even say the name of this special (I think it was for Play it Again, Charlie Brown).
Anyway, that's all for today. Hopefully, I'll make this a regular series of posts.
